Memorial Day

So are we definitely planning a Monday night thing, then? I'm trying to decide whether to go to Rockport for the weekend, but am kind of leaning toward not- if I have a fun BBQ to look forward to it'll definitely push me more to the staying-here side.

Also: was shocked, SHOCKED to see that the Indiana Jones movie got a few good reviews today. One of which is in my own paper!!

Also, side note: the Mark Twain book is "The Innocents Abroad," and you should all read it by next Monday so we can discuss. : )

No but really, it's so good.

well Manohla Dargis said she was utterly bored during Indy - so you're not alone. But it has been interesting to hear all the different opinions. I'm bored thinking about it but will prob go see it for free.

I am in for Monday night, for sure. Not for Indy.

Just double-checked, and Matt Gross is indeed taking Mark Twain's Innocents Abroad with him on his Grand European Tour. So I'm totes gonna buy and read it.

Nathaniel and I bought the burgers for Sunday. Yum.

I know it's hard to believe on this oh so miserable Tuesday - but the forecast for Monday is 80 degrees and partly cloudy! Woo hoo!

Did I miss the Mark Twain discussion/reference? Could someone fill me in? I am psyched for burgers, movie trashing, Mark Twain discussions, and nice weather. What should Jackie and I bring in the way of foodstuffs/beer/wine?

Sara said...

Oh yeah, assign me something to bring too.

Besides Chris. I think he's coming with me. Forgot to mention that. Should we bring extra stuff to grill?

We have hamburgers for 8-10 so someone should pick up alternate meat. Nath can advise on the rest. And how about Hillary's Bobby Kennedy comment? Wow.

ok, SO excited for Monday. Is 5pm good? I'll go get lotsa stuff: buns, tomatoes, onions, pickles, propane. We have beef and chips. Peter can you bring/make onion dip? Will someone bring a side with not too much mayo, like a light potato salad or something? Yum, corn?? any other aps? sweets? and of course drinks. It's hard for me to assign, so can you start volunteering? yay!!

Sara said...

I'll bring potato salad. It'll be the first time I've made it in quite a while, so you'll have to be forgiving.

Great on all counts. If Chris or someone can bring s'mores that's great. Peter and I will be here from 5, but we won't plan to eat until 7 or so. Hope people will bring drinks too.

Jackie and I are going to bring some beer/wine and hummos/pita and corn. We should get there sometime around 6.
