You know, I thought I knew how I would feel if he won. But the way I feel today is so far beyond anything I had ever envisioned. For one thing I can't stop crying. Every time I stop and think about anything involved with the election, read a newspaper, see someone celebrating on TV, I lose it. My mom, an avowed independent, telling me she has never felt this way in her entire life. My republican dad calling me to sincerely congratulate me and say what a wonderful thing it is for this country. Celebrating with strangers on the streets of Brooklyn at 2am. The joy from all the cabdrivers! It feels transformative on such an epic scale. Truly amazing and inspiring. But here's one question: what will we talk about at Sunday Night Dinner?:)
I can't stop crying either. Instead of stifling it, I should probably just break down completely for an hour and get it out of my system. How lucky are we to be only in our thirties, pursuing our dreams in New York, and be able to be a part of this history. I think it will take many days to truly sink in.
About those next few days, Kyle and I are out this weekend, leaving tomorrow for LA for a week. What that means, in addition to missing SND, is that we will not be able to watch PSU this weekend. So please please Brekke and Peter, keep this going as the most winning fall of our lives. Gobama! GoNU! GoPSU!
I wish we could have an SND group hug right now!!!
I'm in the can't-stop-tearing-up camp too. What I love is all the images and video of people not only in this country but all over the world. I think Chris was onto something when he described it as being like the anti-9/11 - that we were all brought out onto the streets together because something WONDERFUL happened. And we're so not used to that feeling.
Not to pile on Sarah Palin (oh hell - why not?!) - did you hear she didn't know the 3 countries in NAFTA or that Africa was a continent and not a country???
yes to SND this weekend. not only to celebrate our victory and to see each other, but also to officially welcome me back to the world of the living, as the horrendous play that ate tribeca will officially be OPEN. Yes!
on to where? don't you think we should go somewhere for hardcore American food? Like BBQ? something really red, white, and blue?
