Sunday Bloody Sunday

That was sort of dramatic, huh? so who's in and where should we go? I think I missed an outing to Char No. 4 but I really want to try it if everyone's up for it. The other thoughts I had were places that only serve things like beer (beertable), wine and cheese (jake walk) and dumplings (eton).

Here's a random thought: Do Jackie and Kyle ever visit our fair blog now that they have left NYC?

i feel like that question is a little like, 'if a tree falls in the woods etc etc...'

i'm a maybe. i'm not sure what time i'm back from NJ. so make plans and I'll jump on whatever train is rolling if I can.

I check the blog every week. I like to know where you guys are going and who's in. I always want to post my own comments, but then I don't, because I'm super self-conscious...

But I might just send out an email update for SND. Maybe I'll do that now instead of my work ...

Where's beertable? I would kind of vote against Char No. 4 only b/c it's on the pricey side.

Oh also: I invited Lara to join us this Sunday - hope that's OK. She's just been on grand jury duty so she should have some fun stories to regale us with.

Beer table is in South Slope but i really think all they have is beer. i think Brekke said she is out of town this week - or maybe i'm wrong. nathaniel - what say you?

Should we aim for 7:30 as Sara's interview will inevitable be late?

oh yeah - and where should we go?

Apparently there's a cute new Ethiopian place in my hood. Haven't seen it yet tho. I could scope it out tomorrow...

I'm in town this week! Out next week for Mem Day weekend. I'm up for anything, but Beer Table does indeed have food, but it's like Union Hall-y:
oday's Food:

Dehydrated lotus root, green apple or pineapple

Marinated picholine olives with rosemary, bay leaf and orange

Radishes with butter and sea salt

Pickled fennel with Thai chilies and orange zest

Spicy pickled green beans

Pickled eggs with jalapeno powder and sea salt

Beer cheese with bread

Butter beans with bacon, scallions and mayonnaise on bread

Schlenkerla pork sausages with roasted potatoes, pickled onions, mustard and bread

Roasted almonds, ricotta, pear, maple syrup, black pepper and sea salt, on bread

Bayley Hazen Blue with wildflower honey and dried cherry compote, on bread

Il Laboratorio del Gelato malt gelato

I think dehydrated lotus root is a menu item is so hilarious, like a parody of what yuppies eat. Aren't roots bad enough to have to eat without taking all the water out of them?? So nice to have Jackie back. Yes to Beertable. Sara, is Lara def in? (Who's Lara?). I was gonna leave Dom home if it's just the gang, but if there's another guest (now that our core is smaller), I'd invite him if that's ok--lemme know.

Ha. Yes, we will be lotus eaters, isn't that old-time slang for slackers? Or something? I'm pretty sure Lara is in, but she doesn't drink, so I'm gonna mention to her that we're going someplace that pretty much revolves around drinking. I don't think she'll mind. Nath, I'm sure you've met her... she's my friend who works at Good Morning America. She came to a New Year's Eve party once and Moose buried his face in her cleavage after getting plastered on champagne.

So lovely that Lara is remembered for my boyfriend's fondness of her cleavage. Forgot she doesn't drink - I know she used to! which i guess is why she doesn't now. and i realize i shouldn't make fun of that. anyway - beer table at 7:30. if lotus root doesn't fill us up, nothing will.
