From Our Lips...

There's a piece about dining at South Pole station — just when I was complaining about the food! So I guess SND can go to the Antarctic for its international flavor tour. We are so on the culinary pulse.

PS Dinner was not delicious, I admit, but I had a fantastic time. The red velvet cake is almost entirely devoured by the Men's Journal staff.

Should we try Lucali for real this Sunday? I can call them at 5 and put our names on the list so we are ready to be served approx. 6:30. It now seems like the elusive woman (or man) who keeps teasing but won't ever have us. It better be Lucalicious.

I have to say I'm intrigued by our differing reactions to Lucali... my general feeling when I encounter a restaurant that's teeny-tiny and doesn't take reservations and is always packed is "eh... there are eight million other fish in the sea, this being New York and all, and screw you for not taking reservations, Lucali." But I admire your collective dedication to getting in for what had better be the best fucking pizza ever. Count me in...

Also: I actually sent in my J&K wedding-attendance card today. Ahead of deadline! This may be a first.

Nath (and brekke) are out and it will be tough for sara claudia and I to get there unless you guys want to pick us up? And looks like Obama did what we said he needed to do today. Hit it out of the park!

After all my talk about Lucali, I may have to miss this Sunday night. Chris wants me to come with him to Providence for the day to meet his mom (!) and I kind of doubt we would make it back in time. Not totally certain that we're going; I'll let you know once he actually rents the car...

I wonder if we should take an Easter Sunday SND break? Since we're going to be almost at half attendance. Also, my parents are out of town and I've put them off but it would be easier on the whole family dynamic thing if I could see them them...

What do you guys think?

Peter said...

Sure - that's fine. Jackie and Kyle - if you guys are free I would love to have dinner with you. Now I',m feeling a little lonely!

Jackie said...

Of course I'm up for Easter dinner on Sunday. When else will I wear my bonnet? Okay, Pete, half way between you and Kyle and me or that place right up the street from your house? We'll catch up on Argentina.

Other thoughts: I love Obama.

Other thoughts: I pulled my neck trying to fix a broken Ethernet cable today and then wiped out in the intersection of Broadway and Houston. Sara, do you have any Vicodin left?

Sara said...

This just in: doesn't look like we are going after all. Rental car difficulties or something. Anyway, so maybe I can get in on this Easter dinner thing? Was thinking maybe I'd even invite Chris, this being an informal gathering and all...

I'm back in. My parents want nothing to do with me. Jackie, I think I have some percodin.

Sara said...

I think I have some Vicodin kicking around. Claude, we can make up a pharmaceutical Easter basket!

Jackie said...

I love big Easter feast with drug basket! So glad rising oil prices have made rental cars too expensive and parents are unloving! Let's start throwing out the ideas. Excited to see Chris!

I invited my roommate David as Miranda is out of town and no one should have to eat Easter dinenr alone. That said I don't think he can come.

I'm all out of ideas...shit. MUST. THINK. HARD.

Sara said...

Wait, what are you thinking hard about? Where to go?

Claude said...

yes. where to go. where to go?

Jackie said...

I'll start: Kombit Creole, Biscuit BBQ, Bonnie's, Lobos.

Sara said...

Ooh, I vote Bonnie's. Haven't been there for ages. And now I can eat the chicken wings less guiltily.

Claude said...

yes to bonnie's!

Peter said...

We should be prepared to wait at the bar next door. Seating 6 at Bonnie's will not be easy. But I am up for it. Easter Bonnie's!

Sara said...

Easter Bonnie's. As a Postie I'm ashamed I didn't think of that first.

Jackie said...

With the wait in mind, should we meet at 6:30? Easter Bonnies! I agree with Sara -- I sensed there was something there, some joke to unearth, but it also failed to surface with me. Good job, Pete!

Claude said...

I definitely agree about 6:30pm-- hopefully we'll be there BEFORE the dinner rush and AFTER the Easter dinner crowd. Not that they would go to Bonnie's.

Are we:
sara
chris
kyle
jackie
claudia
peter
and david? or no david l?

Peter said...

630 it is. Let me know if anyone wants to walk with me. No david - just the 6 of us. I don't think Bonnie's would even seat 7.
