A modest proposal

In accordance with the economic downturn, I'm embarking on some serious budget cutbacks for myself. OK, it's not really in accordance with that, only my own fiscal irresponsibility. Anyway: I'm proposing that we try really hard to find places with cheap-ish menus. I thought the Ethiopian place was pretty good - anything where the bill ends up $25 or lower is good to aim for, I think. (Anything less than that, these days, seems nearly impossible.) That said, I don't want to curtail anyone's good time, so if there's someplace people really want to go that's pricier, you should - I may or may not opt out for that week. Anyway, in the interest of furthering the budget eating, I suggest perusing New York's cheap eats guide - which includes a new place in my hood that I haven't been to yet, The General Greene, which features an $11 burger. For this Sunday, maybe?

I agree on the price thing. I consider it a challenge.

Sara - I believe it's just you and me this weekend. You wanna do the movie thing?

oh yeah! i forgot. Yes, I'm up for the movie. Tell No One, at BAM? Or else we could get takeout and watch the season premiere of Mad Men - yes, I give, I'll watch it! But maybe I shouldn't until I've watched the first season?

And I amend my proposal of General Greene to a week from Sunday.

I was just a) thinking about the money issue myself as I just quit my job and am watching all my savings crash and b) reading about The General Greene on the subway this morning. Sara and Pete, we are on the same page!

I am thrilled to do the General Greene a week from Sunday. Also, I want to host a SND BBQ in my backyard before the end of the summer, which will also be totes easy on the budge. xx

If there's one thing I think we've proven over the course of many Sunday night dinners it's that high prices do not equal quality food. I'm all in favor of the price limit.
