Nate, what do you think? Would love to do a Fairway run Saturday or Sunday morning, and just spend most of Sunday making yummy food for Oscar night. Glad to do it either at Nate's or mine. Either way!
Well I'm flexible, but I propose my place. I do have HD and my TV is 32" which i don't think is much smaller if at all than Brekke's, or is it? Now, may I propose a guest named Dominick? please weigh in. Yes re Fairway, but I also will want to stop at Ikea--this could be a trip of domestic bliss... or of chaos. But fun. Will await comments.
Cool, so Nate's it is. When are you thinking Fairway/Ikea run? I am cool with Dominick, but I also ran into Alix Price two nights ago and she asked if she could join us, and I felt horrible and said yes. If that's a huge problem, let me know, and I'll figure something else out.
I think barring people from the Oscars is a little like not inviting someone to Thanksgiving who needs a place to eat (aka, not done). With one MAJOR STIPULATION: people who can't shut up or who spend the entire time bitching and moaning about how fucked up awards ceremonies are: NOT WELCOME. It's the Oscars-- get on board or complain at home.
Hmmmmm. I'm just going to throw out there that wasn't she NOT a good guest last time? Like, talked through all the speeches and stuff? I agree with Claude that you can't really deny someone a place to watch the Oscars but I do have some concerns. Is this something that one of your two ladies could diplomatically discuss with her beforehand? I feel like a jerk even saying this. But I do kind of want to hear everything. I could even make the rationalized argument that I need to hear it for PROFESSIONAL reasons...
So Nate wants to move SND-THE OSCARS to my house, so please come at 6pm. I did the shopping for the lasagna bolognese and arugula salad, so that should be yummy. I feel bad about the Alix situation, and I know she can be trying, but I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place there. My only hope is that she flakes and doesn't come. I will passive aggressively hope for that. There is a second TV upstairs if anyone feels there's too much talking downstairs, so hopefully that will help reduce frustration. Fun starts at 6pm! xx
I'm still on the fence as to whether I'm coming... really want to see you all, but I think of all of us I'm the one who's the biggest stickler about hearing everything, and thinking maybe I should just watch at home whether I blog or not. Will make the call soon, though...
So I'm bowing out for tonight... I could plead exhaustion following my and Brekke's 1.5 hour spin class (insane), but really I just want to wallow in my movie-dorkiness and watch the whole thing on my own. Will miss you all and hope to see you next Sun. if not before!

We are gathering. I forget if we decided to meet at Nathaniel's or Brekke's ... Missed you last time, Claude! It was quite an adventurous SND.
what happened????

I think Nate's is maybe better, as the TV is in close proximity to the kitchen?
BUT. Brekke's tv is bigger. Etc. HD. Etc.
I actually don't care at all. I'm just really overtired :)
I will miss you all and be with you in spirit. Here's hoping for some upsets - Go Milk!
Brekke - did you get a new big TV? Very exciting!

well brekke is in violation of the rules but i guess i sympathize with the scenario which created the infraction. can alix be a good guest?
yes she can I think. I think so....

I bought chips, two kinds of dip, a bag of potato chips, and yogurt pretzels. I'll also bring some booze. Anything else?
Should I bring the ballots?
The dinner sounds great, Brek, thanks.
I am SO excited!!! Yay. i hope Kate Winslet does a better acting job accepting her award tomorrow than she did at the GGs. Oy.
I will bring booze, too. And no one loves a dip more than me :)
