Happy New Year, SND!

And happy birthday Jackie! See you all in 2009. Speaking of which, are there any plans afoot for this Sunday?

I am at farmhouse now thru Sunday. I'd consider trying to come back in time for dinner if people are up for it. If not, I won't die because I'm up here with family and will just drive home late enough not to get home depressed. Then we have party for Kyle following Friday. I'll tune in to see if people want to do it.

Well, I have one sort of outlandish suggestion, which is that we go to the Jackson Diner in Jackson Heights. Because we've been meaning to go for a while (haven't we?) and because of the nice similarity with one of our soon-departing members' names. But if it's gonna be a small group, perhaps not the best night for it...

It's Wildcard weekend in the NFL; the last game [Eagles/Vikings] on Sunday starts at 4:30pm, so I'd be game for dinner afterwards at 8 or so, but not an hour-long commute to Queens. If we can do something low-maintenance in the BK hood at that time, then I'm totes in. If not, no worries. Happy New Year, my dearest darlings. I hate flying. I love football. I hate other people. I love you.

I'm here. I'm in. I'm flex. Probably something low-key is better for me, too, since I have to move my shit up to Princeton the next morning.

I also just got off the red eye and it took me four minutes to type this.

Kyle and I are pretty retarded about SND this week -- We are burnt out from four full days in the second coldest city in the nation. MI's Upper Peninsula makes Evanston look like the tropics. And we aren't getting back until midnight tonight, and that's if we beat the storm, and Kyle's got a cold and whine whine whine. Whatever, we're experiencing Ground Hog Day in a frozen tundra. I'm waiting for freaking Putin to rear his head.

I'm sensing we're 50/50 on making it, depending on flight delays and grouchiness. However, LOVE the idea of Jackson Diner soon.

Just reading the blog now and so nice to catch up with all of you. Sadly I am out this Sunday as Moose returns tomorrow and I'm going to have dinner with him and spend the night in the city. Don't do anything too fun this week! Definitely looking forward to seeing you all Friday cause this week is going to suck.

And next week is the Golden Globes. I'd love to open up my apartment to host since most likely I'll be watching the Oscars with the publicists.

Happy new year!

I cannot stop obsessively cleaning my apartment. It is immaculate!

Update from the Upper Peninsula: We are still here.

so what i'm hearing is the best bet might be 8pm centrally located and if that's the case we might get sara, claud, brek and me, and good chance we wouldn't get J&K. Is this right? Do those folks who might come have any interest in having me invite Sandy Zipp and his wife? I'm TOTES fine not doing so, but they're staying with me and some of you might like to see them. Not sure also if they're free. Then we can choose restaurant.

Peter: I love the idea of GGs at your apt next Sunday night- let's definitely do that. And stop cleaning, would you? Turn your attention to cooking instead :)

As far as tomorrow, yes Nathaniel: 8pm, central sounds good. I dont have strong feelings either way about Sandy Zipp, though I might err on the side of NO, just to keep it cozy.

Meanwhile, is 5th avenue central? DO people have food desires? I will put my mind on it...xoxoox

Oh - and I have picked a date for my housewarming: Friday, January 23rd. Book it.

Can't. stop. cleaning. (and organizing)

Jack - can't believe you are still there! what happened?

sad i'm not going to be there tomorrow to discuss miranda's 70 hours of labor. she said she almost pooped the baby jn the toilet. they had a midwife over tonight torturing quentin (aka taking blood to make sure he has no diseases). i guess they do that in the hospital normally but when you don't go to a hospital; - you get the midwife. the midwife was about 14 and i did not trust her at all. she's the oner who apparently couldn't get miranda to have the baby so they called in the head midwife and then quentin popped right out.

OMG, that sounds like such a nightmare. Can't wait to hear all the details. Quentin is very cute- he seems to look a lot like David.

Re: tomorrow night, whenever/wherever is fine with me. I invited Chris but he probably can't come- he's visiting his sister in the Bronx till evening. Sandy Zipp... I'm kind of inclined to agree w/Claude because I don't know them at all, but don't have strong feelings on it.

We're now 70/30 not making it because, well, we're stuck in Detroit. For the night. In a Days Inn. Drinking Labatt Blue. Farting. Kyle's cold has kicked in and I totally forgot I have a story due that I have to write tomorrow. ALL that said, I'm not backing out completely just yet, if it's OK for me and/or Kyle to be f-l-e-x.

Also, Miranda's midwife experience ... oh, so much to say ... and for sure, need to hear the details. QFL is very cute!!!

ok, no sandy no problem. 5th ave is good. what's that place i always pass on bergen on the way to 5th on the left?

Sara said...

Isn't that Melt? Or something like that? It's not very good.

Sara said...

I know you all like the meat, but there's a really good fake-meat Chinese place called Hunan Delight at 6th and Union.

Sara said...

Also, Miranda's midwife experience has me very un-PC-ly thinking of that Gone with the Wind line:

Prissy: Lawzy, we got to have a doctor. I don't know nothin' 'bout birthin' babies.

Claude said...

hi guys.
i think that place also has regular meat too, in case any one got nervous. it's fine for me. Brek? Nathan? weigh in.

Brekke said...

Hi boos! I'm up for Hunan Delight!
