The Award Goes to ....

Brekke! Thanks so much for hosting last night! It was the perfect night after Kyle's and my long day. To everyone who contributed in making/bringing the ton of food I ate, thank you too.

For those of us who plan to watch the debate in real-time on Friday, please share any ideas about how to make the event social. If not, we can all blog/email about it endlessly the next day --- or during.

I think it would be helpful to be social- otherwise, its me having a total meltdown/heartattack all alone. I'd rather have some potential recussitators. That was badly mispelled.

So.I vote food and booze. I can offer my place happily but the space issue is...an issue.

Also I should add that I may out post-canvassing for SND. My mom flies in that night and I'm promised for dinner. I tried to convince her that she would want to come out to Brooklyn after flying 3000 miles, but she didn't bite.

So totally selfishly, it sounds fun to hang Friday

I will gladly re-host Friday's debate, if everyone wants to come back to my house. Or there's Pacific Standard, where Claude and I tried to go on night 4 of DNC, was definitely a good spot, but we'd need to arrive early to secure a seat.

Jackie and I would like to offer our place. Though, and I didn't think this was possible, for the past few days the election has had to take a seat to something else. It doesn't decrease the importance of this election, but whoever it is, they're gonna have their hands tied.

Kyle and I would love to host!!! We have a house in the middle -- with a big TV, soft kitty and tiny bathroom. Cricket will probably come too, since she and I are headed out of town the following morning. Hope this works out!!!

sadly I have a goodbye party to attend and the NY Film Fest opening. Damn. Guess I'll watch on DVR on Friday. I do plan to watch the VP debate on Thursday 10/2. It's the only one of the 4 I'm in town for - so you are all welcome to join me.

Jackie and Kyle's it is! I'll bring a large bottle of vodka. Anything else you want?

Shut up, No! because the Trader's is opening on Friday!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes, I will brave the crowds and buy cutely packaged, cheap party food treats for the debate because I love Trader Joe's so much I don't know what to do. It was the ONLY, I repeat, the ONLY thing I missed about LA.

Maybe we should use the vodka for drinking games. Any time McCain contradicts himself....

...I guess we're all gonna end up wasted then.

All in favor of debate drinking games, say aye!

AYE!!

Confused--what is the election taking a [back?] seat to? Was that cryptic or is it me? Is Trader's opening in Brooklyn? WHere?

I think I'm in Phila Fri for another granny's birthday (it's true).

I hate to be the stick in the mud, but oh well: I can't come b/c am super allergic to cats. That's OK though; Chris and I will make alternate arrangements. Maybe Thoanna will stay up for the big night...

Sara, I'm so sorry about Sophie the cat! Sucks. Sure you can't get all drugged up to face the fur?

Nathaniel, Trader Joe's is opening on Court and Atlantic this Friday.

Kyle K. said...

Yes, I meant to say back seat.
Also, has anyone else seen this Sarah P. editorial? Not only was she for the bridge to nowhere before she was against it, she is still for a new, different bridge to nowhere (and $120 million to build farms in Alaska where they should never be built). This new bridge - Don Young's Way - could cost up to $2 billion, almost ten times the cost of the Bridge to Nowhere.
Alaskans get $231 in earmarks, ten times what residents of Illinois get.

Don't get me started on the Alaskan earmarks. Almost makes me crazier than knowing how much more money the Montanas of the world get for anti terrorism

Kyle K. said...

Another horrible chapter in this whole thing is that Congress tried to get the money for the Bridge to Nowhere redirected for Katrina relief and Ted Stevens threatened to resign if they did this. Palin defended Stevens saying “We need to come to the defense of southeast Alaska when proposals are on the table like the bridge and not allow the spinmeisters to turn this project or any other into something that’s so negative.” Fuck New Orleans, we're getting our bridge!

On a side note, Stevens is under indictment for seven counts of fraud for various kickbacks and tax evasion. Despite this he is running only a few points behind his Democratic challenger.

Is there an SND this S? I know many of you will be campaigning and I may or may not have a work event. Just wondering who may be in if all works out or if it's off.

I'll be coming back from State College and not sure what time. So I'm a "maybe" count.

Kyle K. said...

Looks like there might be a delay on the debate. I'm also a maybe for Sunday -- but a probably maybe.
