George Will is becoming one of McCain's fiercest critics:
"Unreadiness can be corrected, although perhaps at great cost, by experience. Can a dismaying temperament be fixed?"

Very nice. I'd also like to bring attention to this Newsweek piece on Palin and elitism. It pretty much sums it all up.
http://www.newsweek.com/id/160080
I just want everyone to not that Palin is doing a heckuva job of expanding her foreign policy credentials. And the press is right there to cover it all -- for 29 seconds:
"When Gov. Sarah Palin sat down with President Hamid Karzai of Afghanistan on Tuesday afternoon, the polite preliminaries to their conversation centered around children, as Mr. Karzai spoke of the birth of his first child last year.
"What is his name?" Ms. Palin was heard to ask, as she met with Mr. Karzai in the suite of a midtown hotel, according to a pool report.
"Mirwais," Mr. Karzai replied. "Mirwais, which means, 'The Light of the House.'"
"Oh nice," Palin responded.
"He is the only one we have," Mr. Karzai said.
Then the pool of journalists was escorted out, and the meeting began.
i just read that exact same clip! I would have laughed if it wasnt so truly terrifying.
Thanks Pete for the newsweek tip. It made me realize that in the back of my mind I had always seen the word "highfalutin" as a word containing a parody of itself--that it was to be said like a hick dropping his g's in his gerunds--but it's really not. Except that it turns out its etymology is (or might be) that it was derived from "high + fluting" in which case I was sort of right.
Not to be a pollwatcher but Wash Post has Obama up 52-43. A big bump from the economic crisis.
Som eone told me thne press decided to boycott Palin b/c they couldn't cover herKarzai sit down. The press are definitely turning against her. Backlash!
They were going to boycott her. Then, Palin's handlers realized how disastrous this would be, so they decided to let one reporter in. They quickly shoved the reporter out of the room after only twenty nine seconds.
