special dinner sunday?

I have an itch to cook a 5-course Northern Italian dinner of filet mignon. Would be nice to do it with you guys, and while it's still nice out, in case we could eat outside. Also some blend of Peter and I are out for a few of the subsequent SND's. So I'm thinking this Sunday. Do people want to do this at my place this Sunday, if everyone is in? It would cost $10 + wine each. I have no investment in doing this as an SND if people would rather stick to restaurants--I can do this on a non SND too, but wanted to put this out there as an offer.

Hi everyone,
That sounds wonderful, but sadly I'm en route back from LA this Sunday eve. Or, about to be en route, at any rate....

And I am en route from DC Sunday night, so I can't come. Save it for next Sunday, please!

Well Sara doesn't eat red meat (right?) so maybe silly to make this for only 4 of us. or not. I don't know - Nathaniel and Sara should decide. Can't wait to see you guys - it's been too long. brek and Claude - will miss you.

What about we try the roof at Alma if it's nice out?

Sara does eat red meat, if it is certified to have been raised cruelty-free. For more on this, see my piece here:

Reading article now. Thanks Sara. I wish I could send people to articles for my opinions on things.

Forecast for Sunday is 80 degrees, isolated storms. Should we try Alma around 6pm? and if it becomes clear weather isn't going to cooperate we'll just figure out somewhere else.

Sorry to rain on the Alma parade because I really really want to go, but Kyle and I won't be back in Brooklyn by then. We'll be pushing it to make a 7pm start time and I do think that's a little late for Alma. I suggest something soon unless anyone else has an idea.

Could we do Alma at 7 and just plan to drink for a bit? We're def running out of days we could do alma so might be worth it if possible. otherwise i have some suggies too...

I would love to do Alma and I am bringing a guest, if that's OK by you all: my mom, who is in town till Mon. But Alma is always a wait, which probably works in your favor, J&K. We can start to gather there at 7 and put in our names, and have a cocktail downstairs in B61 while we wait...

Sara's Mom! Amla! Are we all in?

Peter said...

Alma at 7 with mom and late jackie and kyle works for me.

My mom is SO into the Mexican-on-the-rooftop thing. She will also be up for any and all Palin-trashing.

Our train is arriving late and Jackie and I are already pretty beat, with much work to catch up on tonight. Sadly, I don't think we're going to be able to make it for the enticing trifecta: Palin trashing, Sara's mom, and Brooklyn rooftop action.
